It’s back to a “full house” for Michigan’s online casino world, as the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has approved 888 Holdings’ Sports Illustrated brand as the platform provider of the Hannahville Indian Community’s internet casino, according to a press release from the MGCB.
The site was allowed to start operating at 8 a.m. on Feb. 7, becoming the 15th licensed online casino in the state.
Originally, the Hannahville tribe was partnered with TwinSpires, but that company decided to exit the online sports betting and online casino space last year. On Sept. 7, 2022, Sports Illustrated went live with its online sportsbook. The Hannahville Indian Community was among 10 licensees initially authorized by the MGCB to launch both forms of internet gaming in Michigan on Jan. 22, 2021.
“I wish the Hannahville tribe continued success as they once again may offer their customers both internet gaming and internet sports betting in Michigan,” Henry Williams, MGCB’s executive director, said in the release.
In other news involving 888, CEO Itai Pazner recently left his post after an internal compliance review revealed that the company did not follow anti-money laundering and Know Your Customer best practices in the Middle East.
