After a July bump, Michigan’s online casino players said “hold my beer” and presented the operators with $130.9 million in gross receipts, according to figures released Tuesday by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
That number marked the third highest in Michigan’s online casino history, trailing only this April’s $132.4 million month and March’s $131.6 million figure.
BetMGM, the 800-pound gorilla of Michigan’s online casino world, had its second-best month ever, with $49.3 million in receipts, trailing only its $49.8 million in April.
The battle for second and third place is as close as it has ever been, with DraftKings holding the silver for the second month in a row over FanDuel, but just barely. DraftKings pulled in $19.36 million, with FanDuel not quite there with $19.32 million for the month of August.
Fourth place was BetRivers at $9 million, and fifth place saw a big surprise move, as Golden Nugget took in $7.2 million, up from a $6.1 million July. Caesars dropped to sixth place with a $5.9 million month.
From there, it was Barstool at $3.9 million, WynnBet at $3.7 million.
Bringing up the rear were Four Winds at $2.9 million, Stars at $2.6 million, Soaring Eagle at $2.8 million, FireKeepers $1.7 million, Parx $1.6 million million, PointsBet at $936,755, and TwinSpires at $529,188.
Next month, TwinSpires — which has left the market — will only be reporting for the first seven days of September.
For the month, the online casinos paid $24.2 million to the state in taxes, $6.3 million to the city of Detroit, and another $2.9 million to the tribal operators.
