With Week One of the NFL season finally here — and with the home team Detroit Lions quickly morphing into America’s Team — there are plenty of reasons for football fans in the Motor City to be amped for the start of the regular season.

And for those looking to get even more motivated, the state’s sportsbooks are offering some tasty sign-up promotions for first-time users.

Here’s five that caught our eye here at MI Bets:

DraftKings

DraftKings’ sign-up bonus is slightly different and more convoluted than most others in the state, but it also might offer the most bang for the buck.

First-time users will get 20% in bonus credits — up to $1,000 in bonus cash — based on their first deposit. Deposit $1,000, get $200. Deposit the $5,000 max, get the $1,000. The catch (of course there’s a catch) is there is a 25x play-through requirement on the bonus cash before it can be withdrawn, although DFS and casino play count toward the goal.

In addition to the bonus credits, new users will get a $50 free bet upon signing up and depositing as little as $5.

FanDuel

FanDuel has recently done away with its “no sweat first bet” offer and instead has gone a cleaner route for users: Bet your first $5, and get $150 in free bets. That’s it. No strings attached, no play-through, nothing. Just $150 to use as you see fit (probably on the Lions moneyline, but that’s opinion, not advice).

Caesars, BetMGM

Looking for more “traditional” sign-up bonuses? Look no further than BetMGM and Caesars, both offering “risk-free” bets. The BetMGM offer goes up to $1,000, and Caesars to $1,250. But remember, these are “risk-free” in name only. If you lose your first bet, your account will be funded to enable a free bet in the original amount wagered, which is not the same as getting your money back. In short: You have one chance to win money, and then one chance to recoup your money should the first bet lose.

PointsBet

Want two shots at glory? PointsBet is the place, as the company is offering up to $2,000 of the risk-free bets, split between $500 in regular ol’ sports betting and $1,500 for its one and only “pointsbetting” feature, which is basically sports betting on steroids. To explain: Let’s say D’Andre Swift’s over/under rushing yardage number is 55. To “pointsbet” it, you would bet, say $1 on the over. For every yard Swift exceeds the over, you win a buck. He runs for 155 yards, you win $100. But … it works the other way as well. If he’s held to 10 yards on the ground, you just lost $45.

One note: If you lose your $1,500 “pointsbetting” bet, the resulting free bet can be used in the regular sportsbook as well.
